Discover the Essentials of Spinal Flow Healing

What is Spinal Flow?

What is the Spinal Flow Technique?
The Spinal Flow Technique is a holistic healing modality that focuses on the seven gateways of the spine and 33 specific access points to identify and release blockages within the nervous system. These blockages, often resulting from chemical, physical, and emotional stressors, can disrupt the communication pathways between the brain and the central and peripheral nervous systems, leading to various health issues such as pain, disease, emotional distress and an overall sense of disconnection.

By recognising that pain is a warning signal, a form of communication from the body, the Spinal Flow Technique empowers individuals to take proactive steps to significantly reduce pain and creating more ease and flow to the spine before discomfort escalates into more severe health problems. This approach combines genuine scientific principles with holistic healing methods to provide a comprehensive strategy for locating and addressing blockages in ones spine and incredibly activating the body’s own innate healing wisdom. Through gentle contact with these access points, practitioners facilitate the release of stored tension, restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself. This process not only alleviates physical symptoms but also enhances overall well-being by promoting a balanced and harmonious state within the body.

Spinal flow is not trying to “fix” or “treat” problems but enables the body to connect with its own innate wisdom to heal itself using the access points of the spine. There is a Spinal Wave inside everyone and it can grow and generate more healing and more energy through the Spinal Flow Technique. The Spinal Wave has three forms – a breathing wave, a sensing wave and a moving wave. The goal of Spinal Flow Technique is to generate more ease and flow in the body and for the Spinal Wave to flow through the entire spine from the coccyx at the base of the spine, to the head or cranium.

The Spinal Flow Technique has effectively treated and healed people with a wide range of conditions including: * Pain or stiffness in the body * Headaches and migraines * Sciatica * Stress * Low energy * Chronic fatigue * Fibromyalgia * Digestive issues * Depression and Anxiety * Reproductive issues * Learning Disorders * Menopause * Bulging Discs * Cancer Treatment Support and many more.

Who Created Spinal Flow?
Spinal Flow Technique has its roots in chiropractic science and has some similarities to osteopathy and cranio-sacral therapy, it does however have some unique differences. Spinal Flow can relieve and resolve pain symptoms in the body by restoring the mobility in the spinal vertebrae that may have become blocked through life’s experiences and stressors. Drawing from her extensive hands-on experience and a passion for exploring different methods during her career, Dr Carli Axford confirmed the body’s natural healing wisdom that we know today as the “spinal flow wave.” This technique is all about expanding and increasing this innate healing capacity.

How Does Spinal Flow Work?
A certified spinal flow practitioner will communicate directly with your nervous system by engaging with the 33 access points along your head and spine. As we contact each access point, your body recognises it as a gateway to ease and flow, initiating a spinal wave that ripples through your spine. This wave softens, shifts, and releases blockages along its path.
Our commitment is to persist until we’ve cleared the way for healing. We help guide your body from the fight-or-flight response and into the parasympathetic state of rest and digestion, allowing your body’s innate wisdom to flow freely and facilitate its natural healing processes.

The outcome? Not only structural realignment, release of stress and stored trauma but also a profound sense of peace, connection, and ease. “This technique embodies a remarkable gentleness, yet its impact is undeniably potent.”

The 7 gateways of the spine are the primary assessment tool and language used in the Spinal Flow Technique within your sessions. Each gateway is intricately linked to different parts of the body, and holds different and unique symptoms and stories that reflect an individual’s life experience, particularly as it relates to stress, disease and injury. It is important that you understand that when there is a blockage in a specific part of your spine, you will experience symptoms associated with the nerve supply in that area. These symptoms, (usually pain being the first one we listen to) result as a direct cause and effect of that impaired nerve supply not being able to be received in an abundant supply by our organs or appendages of the body (eg arms and legs). This technique is truly transformative.

Are you curious to uncover the state of your spine’s gateways?

The Spinal Flow Technique is a fairly new modality for many people (however Dr. Carli is definitely on a mission to change that), and it’s natural and possibly necessary to ask questions.

My name is Jo, I’m 100% certified and to help you we can move forward in a couple of ways.

a) You can call me (0403 274 576) for a free 20 minute consultation. Here we can discuss your concerns and I can suggest a way forward, costs and efficacy.

b) You can book in for a “Mini Spine Wellness Check” where I can assess your spine and any potential blockages that may be confirmation of any of your symptoms, like pain, depression, anxiety, hormone imbalances, or even more sinister conditions and illnesses present in your body. On booking I’ll send you a short questionnaire to bring with you to your appointment, the whole consultation will take 20-30 minutes, it will cost $50 and we can discuss a plan moving forward, future costs and efficacy.

c) You can book in for a “Complete Spine Wellness Assessment”. This will take 90 minutes, costs $150 and entails completing a much more detailed health assessment questionnaire.
This comprehensive assessment encompasses posture analysis, physical evaluations, and spine palpation to pinpoint blockages within each gateway and will be communicated clearly to you and linked to your health questionnaire. Depending on your symptoms, goals, health challenges, packages have been grouped into 12 sessions. Depending on your needs and the changes showing in your body (like removal of your symptoms) every reassessment for each 12 session block is free.

d) You can also just come for a healing session. I can still provide you with a full health assessment questionnaire and you can come in your own timelines and monitor your own progress within yourself. This way forward is just as popular as the Complete Spinal Wellness Assessment.

Education is a good place to start with a new modality like spinal flow. This technique has shown me a huge deepening respect for the human body and its ability to heal itself.

FAQ

What Does Spinal Flow Feel Like?
Spinal Flow healing sessions are very safe and gentle. We use very gentle and precise physical touch on specific points on the cranium and sacrum. These are called “access points” and give the practitioner a direct pathway to the nervous system or what we like to call the “master controller” of the body.
During a spinal flow session, clients feel relaxed and connected to their bodies. Some clients experience twitches, heat running through their body, a change in energy, emotional release like crying or laughter, and sometimes feels like deep meditation or indescribable relaxation.

What is a Duo Session?
In my clinic, I will be offering “duo” or “group” sessions. The healing intention and intensity can be higher with more people being treated simultaneously. Clients say they enjoy connecting with their bodies, allowing integration while the other person in the room is being treated. Even though you are being treated in the same room, your privacy is always paramount; if personal information needs to be allayed, a separate appointment time can be allocated for this. The ease and flow during a healing session is effortless; it works!

How Often Will I Require Sessions?
Every person will have different requirements because every person is different!
Some people have immediate results, but others find that their recovery takes time. Someone with long-standing acute issues may tend to heal more slowly and require more frequent treatments initially.
As clients start to experience change and healing, the frequency of treatments reduces. Most treatments are 30 minutes each unless you have longer appointments booked. Allow for a total of 45 minutes. Children tend to respond to healing sessions very quickly.
We have clients who see us weekly, fortnightly, monthly, six times weekly, or whenever they feel their bodies need a healing session.

Can I Receive a Rebate for My Sessions?
The spinal flow technique is regulated by its own professional body, not AHPRA; private health rebates are not applicable.

What if I Can’t Lie Down?
Whilst lying facedown is preferable, the Spinal Flow technique can be performed in many positions, enabling anyone and everyone to benefit from this healing modality.
For those who may find lying face down on the table uncomfortable or complex, we can access points on the back, side or upright in a chair.
If a client has NDIS funding then it is possible to claim, it is dependent on each individual and the package they are entitled to.

Can I Have an Online Session?
The Spinal Flow Technique is a hands-on modality.

Can Children Come to a Session?
If you are booked as a single client or as a family, then yes, of course. However, if you are booked for a group “duo session,” I cannot accommodate children waiting in the space. There is no waiting area, and it may be disruptive for my other clients. Spinal Flow Caboolture is a new and developing practice. I currently do not offer group “duo sessions” however this is definitely in the plan moving forward.

What is the Spinal Flow?
The spinal flow wave is the body’s innate and natural spine movement, which becomes activated during a spinal flow treatment. The spinal flow wave moves through the body in three ways: movement, sensing and breathing.
Many clients comment on feeling something inside them and report feeling a deeper connection to their body.
Dr Carli explains and demonstrates the spinal flow in the video here.

Does Spinal Flow Work?
Over the short time I have been working with the Spinal Flow Technique, I have witnessed incredible changes in the human body. I am increasingly humbled by the body’s willingness and desire to heal itself and bring quick and effective change.
When we improve the structure and function of the spine – healing is possible, symptoms dissipate and people’s lives change.

Who Can Receive Spinal Flow?
We treat clients of all ages and those experiencing a range of dis-ease and symptoms. As the technique is so gentle and also effective – anyone and everyone can experience Spinal Flow’s benefits.
There are no contraindications for the Spinal Flow Technique. We do not know anyone who lives in a completely stress-free environment, we are all experiencing stress levels just in our everyday lives.
Our bodies naturally put most stress “to the back of the mind,” where it is stored in our spinal cord as layers to deal with later. Regular spinal flow sessions help us to grow and maintain a level of health and healing.

What Does a Healing Session Look Like?
The majority of the treatment will be conducted face-down on a treatment bed. During the session, clients are encouraged to focus on different areas of their spine to develop more awareness. Each session builds on the next. We discourage going to sleep during a healing session as we want you to participate in your health and healing. Being connected to your body is one way to help achieve this.
